How to Reduce Dust Mites
Although dust mites are difficult to remove completely from your home, there are steps that can be taken to reduce their population.
    Here's How:
  1. Reduce surface dust by wet mopping, vacuuming, and dusting frequently.
  2. Refrain from using wall to wall carpeting if possible.
  3. Use wooden, leather, or plastic-covered sofas and chairs instead of upholstered furniture.
  4. Use washable curtains or window shades instead of venetian blinds or heavy draperies.
  5. Keep inside humidity at 50 percent or lower to slow down mite growth.
  6. Change or clean air conditioner and furnace filters often.
  7. Use nonallergenic, washable bedding materials.
  8. Enclose pillows, mattress, and box springs in nonallergenic casings.
  9. Wash all bedding in hot water once a week.
  10. Avoid accumulating clutter or using knick knacks.
    Tips:
  1. Wear a dust mask while vacuuming or leave the home while it is being vacuumed.
